Caring for furniture

So you have instead in furniture from our company, but now you need to know how to care for it to ensure that your investment stands the test of time. To help you care for your new piece of furniture, we have written an article with some of our helpful and handy tips that we have garnered over the years.

Place your furniture away from light and heat

This is a big one, and it will help preserve your pieces of furniture for years to come. If you place your furniture in direct sunlight or high moisture levels, it runs the risk of your furniture drying out, cracking and more. We recommend that you have drapes, protective window films and curtains installed to protect your property from sunlight and heat sources.

Everyday damage

Furniture is easily damaged by everyday activities such as putting heavy items like drinks, food and hot dishes onto them. The best way to prolong the life of your furniture is to ensure that you put placemats, coasters and tablecloths underneath.

Cleaning

Cleaning is essential for the life of your furniture and will prolong the life of said furniture. We highly recommend that you dust frequently otherwise the dust will integrate itself into the furniture which will cause damage. Occasionally, you should do a wood treatment clean, but this will be at the owner’s risk particularly with waxing and polishing.

Upholstery

Upholstery requires regular cleaning otherwise it can become dirty very quickly and more so if it is used often. We recommend that you hoover them regularly not forgetting to lift the cushions and hoovering the crumbs underneath the chair. Our favourite tip to pass onto customers with upholstered chairs is to ensure that you fluff and flip the cushions weekly. This will ensure the long life of your furniture.
